OUR COMMITMENT
Exclusive Focus of Sustainable Materials
Each style in our collection is crafted from the highest quality fabrications made with sustainable fibers.
Fiber Standards
GMPC certified fibers adhere to global standards set for sustainable materials (OCS) Organic Cotton Standard, (GOTS) Global Organic Textile Standard, (OBC) Organic Cotton Blended Standard, (GRS) Global Recycled Standard. Transaction Certificates are available upon request.
Product Life Cycle
GMPC Sustainable apparel & accessories are constructed with durability in mind; every style in our collection is designed to last.
Ethical Manufacturing
We work with factories who share our commitment to manufacturing quality products and providing a safe and healthy working environment for their employees. All production locations agree to adhere to our Workplace Code Of Conduct. Factory specific audits/certification are available upon request.
organic cotton fiber
Still Climate Smart. Organically grown cotton is playing an important role in helping mitigate climate change. Our organic cotton fiber is grown without the use of toxic, persistent pesticides or fertilizers, sewage sludge, irradiation, or genetic engineering, and is certified by an accredited independent organization.
Today, conventionally grown cotton consumes more pesticides than any other crop in the world, accounting for more than 16% of global pesticide use. By choosing organic cotton fiber we are supporting healthier farming practices.
A Regenerative Ecosystem. By relying on ecosystem services to produce food and fiber, organic farms have a regenerative effect on the environment. Organic standards require that farmers protect the natural resources on their lands, which makes organic farms key players in the fight against climate change.
Conserving Natural Resources. Organic farmers are required to maintain or improve the natural resources on and around their farms, including soil, water, wetlands, and wildlife habitats. By avoiding toxic chemicals and maintaining healthy habitats, organic practices promote biodiversity and protect pollinators.
Organic Farms…
– Emit 18% less global warming causing cases and use 50% less new reactive nitrogen (an extremely potent greenhouse gas).*
– Produce healthier soils that contain 13% higher total organic matter and capture 44% more stable sequestered carbon.*
– Releases 40% fewer carbon emissions.*
– Increase overall biodiversity by 30% & pollinator diversity by up to 50%.
– Reduce nitrates and released into groundwater by 50%.
– Use 45% less energy than conventional systems.
– Organic farms produce yields up to 40% higher than conventional systems in a drought.
– Conserve forest & wild lands; most organic operations are converted from land already in agricultural use, either from active conventional farms or fallowed fields.
*As compared to conventional.
reclaimist RECYCLED COTTON
Nothing Wasted. Our 100% recycled cotton is made from cotton fluff left over from the spinning process and scraps from the cutting room floor – spun at low speeds and compacted to create premium yarns with a smooth finish.
From fluff and scraps to custom caps, totes, and tees. Resulting from years of research and development efforts aimed at perfecting recycled cotton textiles, Reclaimist represents a leap forward in recycled finished goods with an incredibly soft, comfortable hand-feel, and unparalleled value.
Diversify manufacturing outside of China. We source cotton waste, spin, weave or knit and dye our Reclaimist recycled cotton in India. We then partner with world-class cut and sew headwear and bag factories in Bangladesh and apparel factories in India.
Achieve sustainability goals. Transitioning to recycled cotton helps achieve better materials initiatives and fulfill an increasing consumer demand. Utilizing cotton waste that has already been created greatly reduces your carbon footprint, saves water, and decreases waste. The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) sets the criteria for the third-party certification of recycled materials and chain of custody. The GRS includes a higher (50%) minimum recycled content percentage and additional social and environmental requirements related to processing and chemical use.
Verifying recycled materials. Materials are verified to meet the ISO definition of recycled.
Responsible production. Sites are required to meet strict social and environmental requirements.
Chain of custody. Certifications ensure that the identity of the recycled material is maintained to the final product.
Credible certification. Third-party certification audits occur during each stage of the supply chain.
Unparalleled Quality. Only the highest quality spinning waste is selected, leading to a strong, durable, super soft finished material.
RPET
One of the driving forces behind our decision to incorporate more recycled polyester into our products was the realization that unless we find innovative uses for our waste, we are going to be buried in it. Resource reclamation benefits aside, adding recycled polyester to our designs has enabled us to make more durable products that perform better throughout their life cycle. Recycling also lessens pollution from the manufacturing of products made from virgin materials, saves energy, and conserves resources. Ultimately, the solution lies in increasing global recycling rates; building more domestic recycling infrastructure and finding creative ways to reduce the waste we create in the first place.
HEmp
For thousands of years hemp has been cultivated for use in textiles and paper because of its strength and ability to grow rapidly in diverse settings. Known for its insulating properties, breathability, shape retention, durability and incredible versatility, hemp has a rich & storied history for a reason. Hemp boasts a long root system that helps prevent soil erosion and broad leaves that spread out to create a thick canopy that suppresses weed proliferation.
One of the strongest fibers around, hemp comes from the same plant species as marijuana but contains minimal amounts of THC and higher concentrations of cannabidiol (CBD). Today, hemp is experiencing a long overdue resurgence and you can be part of that movement with the GMPC hemp blend collection.
